Super fast, super simple.
2 Cups of heavy whipping cream
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp of extract (usually vanilla, but I used almond and it's AMAZING)
With an electric mixer, beat the whipping cream until thickened into a soft cream. Add the sweetened condensed milk and extract and mix until thoroughly combined. Pour it all into a plastic container and freeze for AT LEAST 4 hours. Longer wouldn't hurt it.
And there you go. That's IT.
It's incredibly smooth and creamy (more so than store bought), melts pretty quickly, and is also very very rich.

I also made a batch of chocolate by adding 1/4 cup of cocoa powder and 1/4 cup of chopped Nestle chocolate chips. Yuummmyyy.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited! That looks so luscious and beautiful. YUM! Thank you for this!
Your recipe looks just like mine.
ganeka - thanks! hope you give it a try and it turns out well :)
epicurious eateries - yes, i saw your recipe! i really thought it was way too sweet with the ratios you had posted though, and plain vanilla didn't interest me much. i like your site though, you have some yummy looking stuff :)
i also found a very similar recipe at another site that sounds pretty tasty. mint chocolate chip! - http://www.recipelink.com/mf/31/37456
no way. way too easy. im calling shananigans.
oh yeah, and is the name of your blog an allusion to "here in my room"? if so, you rock. i love incubus and that song is amazing.
Is a can equal to about 375ml?
This looks so awesome! I'm going to try and make it all from scratch (even the condensed milk), and this recipe makes it look easy!
sara angel - i thought this recipe was too good to be true at first too. rest assured - it works!
and yes, I adore that song (as well as Incubus) and got my blog name from it.
Zo - A can of sweetened condensed milk is usually 14oz, which converts to 414 ml :)
So...you're pretty much my new best friend...
oh my god...are you serious??? that's IT?? wow! thanks!
Didn't think anything could look better or easier until you brought out the chocolate kind! Yum - thanks for the easy recipe without the ice cream maker.

Chew on That
Well that sounds easy! :) Will have to bookmark it.
Hey Megan,
My name is Olivia and I work on a college food blog called Penn Appétit. We do a weekly feature called Friday Blog Lovin' and yesterday, I featured this wonderful ice cream post of yours. I hope you check it out: http://pennappetit.blogspot.com/2008/10/friday-blog-lovin-so-here-it-is-home.html
DELISH!
I have an Ice Cream maker on my Christmas list..maybe I should try this method first!
Stumbled on your blog through one of the food photo sites. I was so excited to see this, I went and bought cream and condensed milk JUST to make it. lol I've been waiting for almost 6 hours, and it's still super soft in the center, but I've been eating the frozen edges. This ice cream is sooo rich but is tasty as heck! Thanks for the new quick ice cream fix! :)
